About

Black-Headed Gull moves sound like a storm. The four piece from Toronto, Ontario fuses the dread of grunge and the expanse of shoegaze in order to command a crowd through powerful highs and thoughtful lows.

The band has been smithing its sound through performances city-wide and interminable recording sessions over the past year. The outcomes have been rewarding, and have garnered a sound akin to poetic barbed wire or an untangled machine. Benedict Cotterill's unforgiving bass growl, Callum Furneaux's waves of echoed guitar distortion, and aggressive, unrelenting drums from David Belenski set the backdrop for Odie Vokes to control a crowd, becoming impossibly vulnerable and singing on behalf of and becoming, Black-Headed Gull.

Their first two singles - "Pray For Me" and "Slowly" - have set the tone for the remainder of their singles leading up to the release of their anticipated collection, Black-Headed Gull; An EP that showcases the band's efforts up until this point, and paints itself in the band's harsh tone, abrasive attitude, and acts as a compass for the band's future, carving more images into sound and claiming it as their own.
